A global network for genomic surveillance and infectious disease research
Viral AI is a federated network for genomic surveillance and infectious disease research. It brings together collections of viral genome sequences and their associated metadata, each one published by the organisation that produced it, and makes them searchable in one place without moving the underlying data. Every collection states what it contains, when it was last updated, and what access requires: some are open to anyone, while others are held under conditions set by the group that collected them, and those are described on the collection's own page along with how to request access. Data can be queried in the browser or through the GA4GH Data Connect API, so a result found here can be reproduced in an analysis pipeline elsewhere. Explorer, the software behind the network, is built by DNAstack on open GA4GH standards for describing and sharing genomic data. New collections join the network as their publishers register them, and appear here without a release.
